me and my girlfriend have to chat through video and i have a mac and she has a pc. skype is not an option because quite frankly, its horrible. it constantly freezes and just doesnt work. is there any better video chat free services?

It’s free and web-based, so it doesn’t require any downloads. It offers much better functionality than Skype, as it offers various games and activities you can do while video chatting, as well as doing effects on your webcam, sending each other gifts, changing the background of the chat and many more.
You could look at Tokbox.com (used to work there) or Meebo.
Note: Freezing could be an issue of your internet connection quality…so keep that in mind (faster=better). You should also close down any applications you aren’t using (Itunes, etc.).
