I am not allowed to put a sky dish on my house because it’s in a conservation area and is a listed building but my neighbour can park his Hyundai outside. I know which i think damages the areas’ aesthetics more…
Beautiful cars should be discounted and those who drive ugly ones should have to pay an extra tax in my, admittedly unusual, opinion. Everyone sees cars everyday; they should at least look nice. Sorry if I sound like a bit of a maniac.

2Sometimes I think people buy ugly cars out of desperation and lack of funds. Still others may simply not have the ability to realise their cars are less appealing than the east facing end of a westbound articulated lorry.
I think maybe the better way to look at it is why indeed these inferior car manufacturers are allowed to sell round the world.
Having driven some rather charming old Toyotas and not to mention ridden in a less than beautiful but reliable 1960-something Cortina, it is sufficient to say charm can compensate for beauty.
Sadly, however, as models have generally become more attractive, fewer have charm, and some less popular brands seem to specialise in remaining ugly and as charming as a hedghog on a bad day.
Like emission bands, we need to have bands related to appearance in new car sales starting with next year’s models. That would at least lower the chances of having a
neighbour show up with a criminally ugly car and disgracing an neigbourhood filled with not necessarily new, but none the less charming older cars.

3Well, a Sky dish means the owner probably has Sky television, and as that consists mainly of the same few programmes being endlessly repeated in between numerous intellectually insulting adverts, I don’t think that that person could be expected to have much taste, so their opinion is really pretty worthless.

4I agree 100%! My Alfa Romeo should qualify for a council tax discount, never mind cheaper car tax, for improving the look of the neighbourhood!
If I can ever afford an Alfa 8C, I’d fully expect the government to give me free petrol and cakes for a year, because I’d be enriching other people’s lives by allowing them to see such a beautiful car!
You do sound like a bit of a nutter, keep it up!

5The problem is that ‘ugliness’ is subjective. What I think of as ugly, you might think is pretty. You’d have to have a standard of ‘ugliness’…it won’t happen. What if your neighbour tried to get your car banned as he thinks it’s ugly?

6The worst is a van or taxi parked in your street, but yes, ugly cars are a nuisance.
I like the Porsches and Astons parked in London – lets you know you’re in a classy neighbourhood.

10People have different tastes.
For example, lots of people like the Mustang. I think it is one of the ugliest cars ever made.

11What you think is ugly may not be ugly for other people.
I’m sure someone think your car is ugly. Then why shouldn’t you pay an extra tax?
Think about it =]
